Number 1.

There is a quote by Alexis Pauline Gumbs that I really like. In it she talks about this God of the ocean. What we knew about them, what they knew about us, and why we were in search for them. I don’t know if there is a God of the ocean. I don’t know if when things get worse we will crawl our way to the ocean and try to find them– safety or solace in them– but I do know that there is hope in the ocean. Memory in it. Ideas of freedom and terrifying escapes. I know that there are lessons in the ocean. Lessons I learn from everyday. Lessons that guide my sense of freedom. My sense of liberation. My sense of community. My sense of forgiveness. I know that there is hope in the ocean and I lean on that hope. I hope that as I lay this letter to a watery rest, survival, hope, dream, that you find it. And that when you find it you are well. That the dreams we dreamt have been realized or better yet they have been replaced by something better. Something fuller. Something greater. I hope that you write back. I hope that you share with me the reality of your time. I hope you pray for us.I hope you see how much we tried. I hope you pray for yourself. I hope you share with me the possibilities of your time. I hope you are connected to water.
To salt. To memory.I hope you are well. .
